We'll start in Wensley when Ralph Siddall is born on the 23rd December 1677. The records state that his father was also Ralph. One earlier Ralph Siddall I can find is recorded at Manchester Cathedral.
It's possible that when the records were amalgamated after 1837, the parish records were centralised at the nearest cathedral in what are called the 'Bishop's Transcripts'.
This Ralph was born on 25th January 1646 so it is possible that he is Ralph's Dad. Guess what his father was called. You've got it, Ralph. We've got two possibilities then, both at Manchester.
Ralph Syddell born on the 31st May 1618, father's name Thomas (phew) born in 1584 possibly in Leeds had married Elizabeth Jackson on 3rd March 1605 in Leeds. His parents were Thomas and Alice
The other is Ralph Syddall born 26th December 1617 to Adam Syddall born in 1588 who had married Elline Studs in 1606. His father was called Henry

All that is a bit speculative but I can place Ralph Siddall reasonably confidently in Wensley in 1677. On 24th November 1705, Ralph marries Ann Spurrow and on the 1st December 1706 they have a son, imaginatively they call him Ralph. This Ralph presumably marries and on the 8th april 1744 is delivered of a son. Name? Ralph. Two other boys follow, Stephen on the 22nd October 1749 and Benjamin, my forebear, on the 14th July 1751. In 1766, Ralph marries Bridget Chapelhow in Wensley and then these three brothers turn up in Masham sometime in the 1770s and settle down.
